Catch a Cab 2
Last modified: July 21, 2006 - 10:59 AM
Catch a Cab was conducted over the Christmas period of 2004. The aim was to develop a local sustainable project that would be run every Christmas with little funding from the RTA and encourage local drinkers to leave their cars at home. Catch a Cab 2 is the second phase of the project.
After analysing the results of the 2004 evaluation surveys some changes were made to the way the project was conducted. The $2 discount voucher was abandoned in favour of weekly prize draws. During this project anyone who caught a cab on a Friday or Saturday night the last weekend in November and each weekend throughout December would go into a weekly prize draw for $100 worth of fuel. All unsuccessful weekly entries were then placed into the major prize draw for a $500 local shopping spree. In total some 1,663 people participated in the project by filling in vouchers. The incentive was promoted via: posters in all the pubs/clubs in Parkes, Forbes and Condobolin, radio and newspaper advertising and media coverage of the project starting, weekly winners, major prize winner etc. The project also included heighten Police enforcement and advertising to promote same, Notice to Patrons signage, support from the local Liquor Accords, media coverage, RTA advertising and evaluation surveys. The results of the project and an overview of the strategies are included in the Final Report, which is available to download at the bottom of this page.
