Be Safe Be Seen

Last modified: July 19, 2006 - 9:21 AM

Be Safe Be Seen was a pedestrian visibility project, conducted by the Road Safety and Injury Prevention Officer, targeting dawn and dusk walkers.

This project was developed in response to crash data and community concerns regarding the behaviour of dawn and dusk walkers. The issue related to the conspicuity of these walkers who more often than not walked on the road with their backs towards the oncoming traffic. The project involved; a testimony of a walker who was struck by a car, a launch, street banner, community survey, supermarket displays, the distribution of reflective t-shirts, sponsorship of a Relay for Life team, posters, advertising and media coverage. The results of the project are outlined in the final report which is available to download at the bottom of this page.
