The Kings Castle - a collection of Elvis' personal memorabilia

With only a week to go to the CountryLink Parkes Elvis Festival, an exciting addition has been made to the 2009 program, with former yellow Wiggle Greg Page loaning his private Elvis collection for display in Parkes.

The King's Castle - A Collection of Elvis' personal memorabilia will be housed in Moat Cottage, under a joint arrangement between Mr. Page, Parkes Shire Council.

Mr Page's collection is extensive, and very unique in that it contains a range of personal and movie clothing actually once owned and worn by Elvis, jewellery, furniture, law enforcement items, a guitar and piano, and the last Cadillac owned by Elvis. Elvis was photographed driving the car just 2 days before his tragic passing in August 1977.

Mr Page has one of the world's largest private collections, which has featured on both the ABC 'Collectors' series, and Channel Nine's A Current Affair.

The collection has been housed privately in Sydney, but Mr Page wishes to further reveal the Elvis legend to visitors, and chose Parkes as the perfect place to house the collection, given its establishment as the 'Elvis Capital if Australia' with the success of the annual Festival.

The King's Castle will operate throughout the Festival, and hopefully into the future, providing a great permanent tourist attraction for Parkes. Volunteers are being recruited to operate The King's Castle throughout the Festival and in to the future. If anyone has any time to spare and an interest in this attraction, they should contact the Parkes Visitor Information Centre. The collection is being temporarily housed in Moat Cottage, with additional items being added in the future, when a permanent space becomes available.
