Election of New Mayor and Deputy Mayor - 18 Jul 2008
Following the retirement from civic life of Cr Robert Wilson OAM, an election for the position of Mayor was held at the Council Meeting on 15 July 2008.
Cr Ken Keith was elected unopposed to the position. Cr Keith has served 17 terms as Deputy Mayor and has been a Parkes Shire Councillor since being first elected in 1983.
An election for the position of Deputy Mayor was held at the same meeting due to Cr Keith's elevation to Mayor. Cr John Magill was elected unopposed to the position of Deputy Mayor. Cr Magill commenced his Local Government career with his election to Council in 1999.
Both Cr Keith and Magill look forward to the challenges of their new positions and look forward to working with their fellow Councillors, staff and the Parkes Shire community in fulfilling the Shire's visions and aspirations. more ..
