Internet Access
Parkes, Peak Hill and Trundle libraries have computers available for Internet use. A $2.50 per half hour charge applies for email and chat, all other surfing and research is free.

Parkes Library is also a WiFi Zone. This service costs $2.50 per hour.

Microsoft Word/Excel/Powerpoint
Is available at a cost of $3.00 per unlimited session at Parkes, Peak Hill and Trundle libraries. You are welcome to bring your USB drives or CDs, but please be aware they will be checked for viruses.

Printing is available at a cost of $0.30 per double sided page.

Home Library Service
The Neighbourhood Centre and Parkes Shire Library offers a friendly and FREE housebound service to all residents of Parkes. Those who are unable to personally visit the Library either by reason of age, illness or disability are eligible to be included in this service.

To register for the service please contact the Neighbourhood Centre on 6862 3788 or 6862 3757.

All items held by Parkes Library are able to be borrowed by Housebound members. Items are delivered once a fortnight. Bulk loans are also available to institutions such as nursing homes, retirement villages and aged care centres.

This service relies on the assistance of volunteers to select and deliver the items to the housebound members. If you have a small amount of spare time and are interested in helping a much needed service then please contact the Neighbourhood Centre on 6862 3788 or 6862 3757.

Request to Purchase an Item
If an item that is not held within any of the Parkes Shire libraries you will be offered two options:

  • If the item has been published within the last two years and is an appropriate addition to the existing collection the item will be purchased and held for you to pick up at a later date.
  • If the item is older than two years or is not appropriate for the existing collection we can inter-library-loan the item from another library. To request an item from another NSW public library it will cost $4.00. To request the item from a University, special or library outside NSW you will be charged the fee imposed by this library.
Reference
Parkes Library holds a book and online reference collection. Books in this collection cannot be borrowed, but can utilised within the Library.

Our online resources can be used within the Library, but you are also able to access some of these database from home. More information.

Staff at Parkes Library can also carry out extensive searchs for information for you. A preliminary search is $10.00 (15 to 20 minutes) and a professional search is $38.50 per hour. Please contact Parkes Library on 6861 2309 for more information.

Fax
All Parkes Shire libraries can send and receive faxes. To send a fax the cost is $1.50 per page. To receive an incoming fax it is $0.50 per page.
